SWorkz S12-3D (Dirt Edition) — First Look with Micha Widmaier
Why we’re excited
We grabbed a quick pit-side chat with Micha Widmaier to see what’s new on SWorkz’s next 2WD buggy. The short version: the S12-3D is calmer on entry, faster mid-corner, and hooks up better on blown-out dirt—without getting twitchy when the groove comes in.
“Longer arms, new 13 mm shocks, the front shock tower moved forward, and extra support under the gearbox for flex options—that’s the big stuff.” —Micha
What’s new (from the pits + factory notes)
Revised front & rear geometry → more corner speed, easier repeatability.
Longer suspension arms → stability and forward bite.
13 mm Pro Shock system → smoother pack and better chop control.
Front shock tower moved ahead of the shocks → cleaner motion, more front bite.
Carbon towers + protectors → stiffness up top with crash insurance.
Added bracing under the gearbox → tighter case, tunable chassis flex.
Synthesis rear hub system for CVDs → efficient, consistent rear drive.
T7075 hard-anodized aluminum chassis → light, rigid, race-tough.
Updated steering geometry (Ackermann plate & linkage mounts) → steadier on power.
What carries over: gearbox family and several front-end bits (C-hubs/knuckles), so spares and setup knowledge transfer.
Dirt vs. Carpet (S12-3D vs. S12-3C)
S12-3D (Dirt Edition): geometry and damping aimed at bump absorption and forward drive on looser tracks.
S12-3C (Carpet Edition): stiffer, more immediate rotation for high-grip.
You’ll mainly feel it in diff choice/tuning (ball vs. gear by setup), springs/pistons, and roll centers.
