The NNRC Cup Intermediate Class Virtual Series points after Round #3 at the 2024 North Georgia Shootout:

Going into the third round of the NNRC Cup, which was the North Georgia Shootout, we faced a problem. The NGS, at the moment, does not have a pro class filled with big-name pros like some of the other races on the list. This means some drivers who race at an intermediate level at the bigger national races like SIC and PNB will bump up to the Pro Class for more regional big races like NGS. This was the case at the NGS. After much thought, we decided to stick to our rules, and those who ran pro at this race would have to count it as a drop race. Next year, we will look into changing this, and a few ideas have been thrown around.

The Intermediate class is very competitive. Going into NGS, Chuck Berg was in the lead after winning at SIC and placing 6th, with Ryan Daze in 2nd, Chris Marrant 3rd, Mike League 4th, and Don Elliot in 5th.

Chuck did not make the trip to NGS, nor did Marrant. Ryan Daze and Don Elliot both ran in the pro class, so this was a drop race for them.

It’s great to see the racers taking the series seriously going into NGS. Mike League was one of them who made the trip with a contingent of racers from Michigan and Indiana to race. League was TQ of both SIC and PNB but was unable to convert the TQ into wins. At the NGS, League did not TQ, but he did get the important win and also took the lead in points. Congratulations, Chedda! Chuck Berg drops to 2nd, followed by Ryan Daze. Moving up to 4th after missing PNB is Trent Walker, while Marrant drops to 5th overall in points.

The word on the street is that the RC Pro Am is going to have quite a few top drivers in attendance, so we will probably see the racers who ran pro at NGS drop back down to intermediate and chase those points available. Wicked Weekend will be stacked with some top West Coast intermediate racers making the trip to the south to race as well. The intermediate class is looking to heat up this summer!
